It is very important to preserve the cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations so that the future generations can form their own identity and understand their societal values. Electronic processing of information, i.e. digitalization, accelerates these efforts.

The Dersim Museum in Exile will serve as a digital museum about the Dersim region. In order to preserve the cultural heritage, a memory center will be created with tangible (archives, library, 3D objects) and intangible (language, faith, music, etc.) works.

The museum will research the history of the Dersim region, where many cultures and beliefs live together, and present the life of the people of Dersim in all its aspects. Historical and current documents will be collected and preserved in this digital museum.

At the same time, the history of migration from the historical Dersim region will also find its place in the museum. It is estimated that over 450,000 people from the historical Dersim region live in Germany today. The majority of people from Dersim are Alevis and they play an important role among the migrants from Turkey.

Digitizing and making cultural heritage accessible will also promote its international visibility. In the axis of the digital museum project, various relationships between cultures and faiths will be examined with the help of documentary studies, dialogue and academic thinking and dialogue between cultures and faiths will be promoted.
